Rock Legend Ozzy Osbourne Dies at 76

Ozzy Osbourne, the world-renowned “Prince of Darkness” and co-founder of Black Sabbath, has passed away at the age of 76, marking the end of an era for heavy metal and rock music. The news was confirmed by his family on July 22, 2025, stating that the music icon died peacefully at his Los Angeles home, surrounded by his loved ones.

Born John Michael Osbourne in Birmingham, England, Ozzy rose from humble beginnings to become one of the most influential and controversial figures in music. As the lead singer of Black Sabbath, he helped invent heavy metal with albums like Paranoid (1970) and Master of Reality (1971). His wild stage presence and unforgettable voice made him a legend by the age of 30.

After his departure from Black Sabbath in 1979, Osbourne launched a massively successful solo career. His solo albums—Blizzard of Ozz, Diary of a Madman, and No More Tears—cemented his status as a solo superstar. Tracks like “Crazy Train” and “Mr. Crowley” became anthems of rebellion for generations of fans.

Ozzy’s career spanned more than five decades. He was inducted into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame as a member of Black Sabbath and received the Grammy Lifetime Achievement Award. Beyond music, he became a pop culture phenomenon with the MTV reality series The Osbournes, which introduced his eccentric family life to millions of viewers.

In recent years, Ozzy faced numerous health battles, including Parkinson’s disease, spinal surgeries, and respiratory issues. Despite this, he continued to connect with fans, releasing new music and making rare appearances—including a farewell performance at Villa Park, Birmingham, on July 5, 2025.

Tributes have poured in from fellow musicians, political figures, and fans across the globe. Metallica’s James Hetfield said, “Ozzy didn’t just sing metal—he was metal.” Sharon Osbourne, his wife and manager, released a heartfelt statement: “Ozzy was my world. He gave everything to his fans, and they gave it back tenfold.”

The legacy of Ozzy Osbourne is vast. With over 100 million records sold worldwide, countless sold-out tours, and a fan base that spans continents and decades, his influence is eternal.

As fans around the world light candles and raise their horns in tribute, one thing is clear: There will never be another Ozzy Osbourne.
